San Francisco City Guide

How Is San Francisco’s Universal Health Care Working?

While many users of the system praise it, it’s placing a burden on small businesses. http://www.mercurynews.com/localnewshead…
By having the health care mandate work on a city by city basis, isn’t it far easier to tailor the citizens needs to the plan? Instead of having a giant one size fits all policy?

Liberals will allow it to bankrupt the city before admitting to it being the failure that it is. The same way they sweep all the nastiness associated with homosexuality under the rug, such as aids, men humping in broad day light and low life expectancy rates. God bless.

It’s working fine, as far as it goes. Health care is only available to SF residents, and services must be provided within the city.
And the “burden” on small business is not that great. Most people don’t realize that a company can have up to 500 employees and still be called a “small business.” There is no fee for businesses with less than 20 employees.

Cities would have far less clout to negotiate prices will providers and drug companies. How would the health care needs of someone in SF be different form those in other cities? What about people who live in the country- don’t they deserve an opportunity to participate if they want to?

Some small businesses CLAIM its too much of a burden… others do not. I think there will never be a system that everyone is happy with. I’d rather see a plan that isn’t tied to employers but that’s the US system at the moment.

I think you meant “tailor the plan to the citizens’ needs” and not the other way around. Was that a Freudian slip?
Well, at least that would be more Constitutional than a federal system.

hmmm… sounds like federalism at work to me. except that it shouldn’t be a federal mandate. it may work fine until there aren’t any bergs left to contract out the tuff and expensive cases.

I didn’t know people were allowed to start small businesses in San Francisco. That would indicate evil capitalism.
