the answer my friend is right in front of you, follow the money. AG is a partner with Kleiner Perkins (a large venture capital firm) which has invested hundreds of millions of dollars in startup alternative energy companies. Standard fees are 2% annual and 20% of profits. For example, if they were able to take $100M and turn it into $1,000M in five years, the partners ( their are a few dozen) would be elligible to make $10M in fees and $180M as a share of profits. So all Al Gore is doing is talking up his portfolio and making a lot money. Not bad for “government work” if you can get!

Because he can’t keep himself from doing what all criminals do,cry out for help. Basically this is what many criminals do,they make the conscious/unconscious effort to show anyone who’s paying attention that they’ve been deceitful, they set a trap for themselves seeking punishment for their crime and/or they simply point the finger directly at themselves as is the case with this poor lost soul,Al Gore.
Al Gore wishes to show us that he is guilty and is unable to deal with it himself,he can’t live with his guilt and has created an “In Your Face and I Must Be Punished” show of guilt.

Because he bought lots of carbon credits from his go-green guilt company… that he makes money from… wait a second!
What about his private jet? All of it is such a joke

His movie isn’t silly. It’s actually quite informative.
And I’ve got news for ya. The 40* feet of extra sea level that you are referring to will not happen for another several decades. Assuming that humans stick on their careless path of pollution.
He isn’t telling people to not buy property in these areas. He is warning them that this will happen and that we need to do something NOW to start fixing this problem and to not put this dilemma on our children and our children’s children.

As pegminer said, the IPCC predictions are only about 2 feet (maximum) by 2100. Gore is 61, so assuming he lives another 20 years, that amounts to only about 10 centimeters for the remainder of his life.
10 centimeters is not enough to bring any city underwater. Indeed even if it were 10 times that amount, a country as wealthy as the US would be able to adapt. It would of course be hugely expensive to maintain our coastlines around our biggest cities, but not as expensive as letting the cities go under and having to build new ones.

Al Gore has brought the problem of global warming into the spotlight where it belongs, and has set the wheels in motion to do something about it. He travels constantly to raise awareness. I think this public good constitutes fair mitigation for the greenhouse gasses that he generates.

Maybe you should see the movie again, and learn the geography of San Francisco–you apparently weren’t paying attention.
EDIT: Hundreds of feet underwater when? Not until long after Al Gore would be dead. You really need to look into actual global warming predictions before making fun of them. Maybe he didn’t make things clear in his movie, but go to the IPCC website and look at their predictions.

It was predicted by scientists back in the 1950′s that Calif. would be under water by the year 2000. Unless I am mistaken, I believe that Calif. is still here.
Al Gore is such a nut. Just think we could have had him for President instead of Bush. Isn’t that a scarry thought?

Al Gore is a big hypocrite, and is in it for the money. He is a very dishonourable man and he feeds of the people’s fears. I am not saying we should pollute, pollute, pollute, but I am not saying that we should listen to is BS.

How DARE you question the religion of global warming!! He did it because global warming is REAL and …uh…wait a second…

Watch the movie ‘Ice Age 2 – the meltdown’. The character Fat Tony who tries to sell the other animals useless things to deal with global warming seems to be based on Al Gore.

I thought Al Gore was so rich now that losing a few million in a home would not be that big of a deal to him. Why not enjoy SF while he can.

Stop trying to bait Al Gore into a debate. You are sore because he is right and you are wrong. CO2 is killing this planet and we will not die becuase we did not listen to him. Instead we complained about a little condo in San Francisco so he does have to fly a jet anymore and pollute!
